So Rios is a purpose built naturist sauna in Kentish Town in London, now before I went that was basically all the info I really had on this place as people who had been had told me very different descriptions of the place and what happens there. So if you're looking to go here's what you need to know. So as it's a naturist spa you can choose to wear a swimsuit or you can go naked or somewhere in between, basically whatever you're comfortable with and it's not full of creepy old men trying to sleep with you.
Whats inside
OK so once you've paid there's a seperate male and female changing room to get yourself ready in (Don't forget to bring £1 for the locker) once you leave the changing rooms (the women's changing room is sooo tiny) there's a little chill out section with sun loungers and a TV, walk past there and they have a bar. Now the bar is different, you are allowed to bring your own alcohol and they keep it behind the bar and give you a cup and top you up whenever you're ready. You can also bring food and they will keep it in the fridge and warm it in the microwave for you.
Past the bar there's a little walk and you are by the actual main part of the spa, where there's 2 jacuzzis, a plunge pool and sauna/steam rooms and showers, then just off of there are 2 much bigger pools, one is up a level and I'd say its more like a giant jacuzzi but not as hot and the one below is just a normal pool. Then leading off of that area are the 'Play rooms' which are like mini huts with a very basic 'bed' so the room is yours to basically do your thing, but they're obviously not really sound proofed so everyone will hear you having a good time lol
Oh I nearly forgot there's a cute little enclosed garden with benches where you can go have a smoke, this seems to be the main point to socialise.
Is everyone really naked?
OK so this really depends on the times and days you go, I found on a Saturday which is couples day, most of the people were naked and the thing is no one cared no one stared (apart from me till I got used to it, tbh my 1st time I felt like the biggest prude although I'm the total opposite) but no one was judgemental, everyone was just naked and happy and minding their own business and enjoying themselves. Now on a Friday it seems to be a bit busier as it's a singles day so there's not as much naked people most people tend to wear a swimsuit.
Is everyone just swingers having sex everywhere?
I feel there's def some swingers there and if that's your thing I'm sure there are ways to partake, but everyone isn't having sex everywhere because as far as I'm aware you're not allowed. So in the pool and jacuzzis etc you might see people kissing or you know, heavy petting or even naked 'massage' in the saunas but I never saw anyone have sex in the pools etc because tbf that's what the play rooms are there for. I did see an older lady happily giving her man head by the pool and they were both completely naked,I was actually quite impressed like they didn't give 2 shits and although I was there in the pool at the other end it didn't feel weird or uncomfortable, I kinda gave her a mental high five in my head lol
Also going back to the sauna quickly I was in one and there was a guy who had put Olbas Oil in there, when I tell you it fully cleared my sinuses and I haven't had a cold since lol
Is it just old white people?
OK so I'd say on the couples day there is a slight mix and although I'd say everyone is late 20s upwards, there is still more older people (like 50+) than younger and there is a few black couples dotted about. But on the singles day there is definitely more of an even mix of ages and different races.
What happens if I go by myself will men harass me?
If you're an attractive female you will definitely get smiles and hellos but in my experience no one tends to bother you unless you invite them over and if you did have some annoying guy bothering you, they actually have security in there who are always wondering around and would have a word.
Ummm what else would you need to know... hmm.... Oh they give you a towel while you're there and whenever you need to you just throw it in the hamper and they'll give you a new one. Bring ID because you'll need to show that before you can get in. Also the staff behind the bar are lovely and friendly and chatty and you will probably bump into a couple regulars who will always have a good story to tell. Also you will find people of all shapes and sizes there so if you're feeling a bit self conscious about your wobbly bits trust me no one cares everyone is just there to enjoy the facilities and being naked around like minded non judgy people.
